چکیده

Over the years, a number of studies and practical efforts have proposed technologies to retrieve, publish, cooperatively edit, lookup and query RDF models. Also, other studies and practices have shown that standard communication channels, e.g. e-mail, RSS and IM, can be successfully used in Semantic Web scenarios. In this paper we collectively refer to such technologies as “Semantic Web data access" and present the "description of data access" ontology (DODA). DODA is a lightweight formalization which features a simple structure and specifically targets Social Semantic Desktop use cases. DODA supports client software in providing meaningful and assisted user interfaces; as a result, the software con provide the user with a seamless view of heterogeneous data sources and facilitate giving external access to local data. Index Terms – Ontology, Semantic data access, Integration, RDF, RSS, communication channels, Semantic Desktop.

A Smart Campus Prototype for Demonstrating the Semantic Integration of Heterogeneous Data

This paper describes the implementation of a Smart Campus application prototype that integrates heterogeneous data using semantic technologies. The prototype is based on a lightweight semantic architecture that facilitates semantic data access and integration using OWL, SWRL and SPARQL. The focus of the paper is on the prototype implementation and the lessons learned from its development.

A data-intensive lightweight semantic wrapper approach to aid information integration

We argue for the flexible use of lightweight ontologies to aid information integration. Our proposed approach is grounded on the availability and exploitation of existing data sources in a networked environment such as the world wide web (instance data as it is commonly known in the description logic and ontology community). We have devised a mechanism using Semantic Web technologies that wraps...

A Model-driven Approach to enable Access Control for Ontologies

Industrial applications of semantic technologies in particular ontologies include the integration of heterogeneous information sources and the management of information resources and services. Currently, the adoption of these technologies in large-scaled applications within enterprises is slowed down by their failure to meet some basic requirements of commercial applications. One of those is th...

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information

With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
